Our Charity. Our Community.
We exist to bring people together, support those who are struggling, and ensure no one is left behind. Working across the London Boroughs of Redbridge and Newham, and in parts of Somalia, we stand alongside individuals and families facing social exclusion, poverty, ill-health, disability, or hardship. Through compassion, practical support, and strong community connections, we help people feel valued, included, and empowered to build better lives.
What We Do
We work to strengthen communities and support people who are too often overlooked or left behind. Our charity operates in the London Boroughs of Redbridge and Newham, and in selected parts of Somalia, reaching individuals and families who face social exclusion, poverty, and hardship.
We’re here to make sure no one feels invisible or left behind. Working across the London Boroughs of Redbridge and Newham, and in parts of Somalia, we support individuals and families who are facing hardship, isolation, or social exclusion.
Our Story
The Somali diaspora in the UK is a vibrant and resilient community, but many individuals and families face complex, interconnected challenges. These vary by generation, location, and personal circumstances.
Many Somali individuals experience isolation due to language barriers, limited social networks, discrimination, or unfamiliarity with UK systems. Newly arrived families, older people, and women can be particularly affected.
Mental health issues such as trauma, anxiety, and depression can be prevalent, particularly among refugees and those affected by conflict or displacement. Cultural stigma around mental health can make it harder to seek help. There may also be limited awareness of how to access NHS services.
Ongoing Causes – and How We Help
The Somali community in the UK is strong and resilient, yet many individuals and families face barriers that can make daily life difficult. Our charity exists to respond to these challenges with practical support, compassion, and community-led solutions.
Digital Exclusion
The challenge: Limited digital skills and access make everyday tasks harder.
Our response: We support people to access online services, complete digital applications, and build basic digital confidence.
Educational Challenges for Children and Young People
The challenge: Some young people struggle at school and with identity and belonging.
Our response: We support families to engage with schools and provide youth-focused activities that build confidence, skills, and positive identity. We work with young people to help them feel supported and heard.
Health and Mental Wellbeing
The challenge: Physical and mental health issues can go unsupported due to stigma or lack of awareness.
Our response: We raise awareness around wellbeing, provide supportive listening, and help individuals access appropriate health and mental health services in a culturally appropriate way.
Social Exclusion and Isolation
The challenge: Many people feel isolated due to language barriers, discrimination, or lack of social networks.
Our response: We create safe, welcoming spaces where people can connect, build friendships, and feel part of their community. Through group activities, one-to-one support, and community events, we help people feel included and valued.
